REMEMBRANCE - COCONUT GROVE FIRE

REMEMBRANCE - COCONUT GROVE FIRE

Prayer begins with a Need for Someone to Hear

   COCONUT GROVE - FIRE NOV 28 1942

The fire was at the Palm Beach Restaurant in Boston, MA.
I was home with my brother and two sisters, babysitting. All of 9 years age, I thought it was "alright" to be taking care
of my siblings.   Most of the time, that is what I did, at least when not in school.
Mom and Dad went out.
This is what she told me later.
They were there with
another couple.   Mother talked to my Dad
 into "leaving" early on.
 There were paper palm leaves,
paper trimmings and hangings
everywhere in the Restaurant.
The curtains were made of pretty
printed paper
that portrayed "a Palm Beach" scene
 for everyone.
They left this restaurant,
and went to another
one, dancing all night, coming home in the morning.
The next morning, pictures of the FIRE
were in the paper.     The other couple had
left without knowing Mom and Dad had left.
They came over and Mother was hugging
her friend and they were so overjoyed
all four of them were safe.
Neither knew that they were alive and
thought they had died.

What they did not know was that I as a little girl
taking care of my siblings, and "that was normal"
for that age and time.   Sometime in the evening
I thought,  Something's not right !  Mother !
Daddy ! You better get out of that place !
There is a fire going to happen !
And while I was trying to sleep, I only
asked God - whom I was not really sure
Who He Was yet - Please bring them home
safe.... and worried, I fell asleep.

That morning when they came in,
and then the other lady and her husband
came over, and were hugging, I knew
God had heard my prayer.

So I started searching for Him.
How about you?
Have you found God answered your prayers on
any matter?    Have you ever discovered that
He really does ! answer P R A Y E R ?

I tell you true,  I  started to go to
a Girl Scout "Brownie" group that
met in a church there in Boston.  They
had me learn the Girl Scout Pleadge,
and I worked to earn a "badge"
by learning the 10 commandments.

So by the time I went from Boston MA
to return to the Berkshires, and moved
to North Adams, MA.
In 1943 to 1944 I learned them,
and earned my "flying up" pin for
Girl Scouts.   Although I never
was able to be in Girl Scouts again,
I do remember how I learned the
10 commandments.

In 1944, when I was in school in the 5th Grade,
a Mr. Herbert W. Clark, came to visit my
grade school, and pass out GIDEON NEW
TESTAMENTS to anyone who wished
to have one.

This elderly tall smiling gentleman,
in a suit, and wearing a tie, was
giving us "a New Testament"
The Bible.    I did not have one.
So I received my new little book
and began to pour over every word.

I remember
going through
John 3.16
Jesus was the one who said it.
He was the One who came to show
me who God was !  and how my
heart responded to that !

I was 10 that year.  And when Christmas
came in 1944, the Salvation Army brought
my family a Christmas Tree, with
things to put on it, and gifts to
put under it.

I remember getting a Devotional
for 365 days of the Year.    It was
just right for a ten year old with
large print and pictures, and
something for each day
to learn from God's Word.

On Christmas Eve I was so grateful.
At last I understood that Jesus had
come to save sinners, and I was now
a Believer for I asked Him to cleanse
and wash me of my sin.
Romans 3.23
For all have sinned and come short
of the glory of God.
Romans 6.23
For the wages of sin is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ, his Son.
2 Timothy 2.15
Study to show thyself
a workman that needeth not
to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth.
That day I put
my name in John 3.16
FOR GOD SO LOVED WORLD
THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON,
THAT WHO SO EVER BELIEVETH
ON HIM
SHOULD NOT PERISH
BUT HAVE
EVERLASTING LIFE.

He was the G I F T for me
that year,
so when the Salvation Army
had been so good to give
us a fine Christmas,
I visited an Evening service
at their meeting place.
That evening they showed
a slide film on the song
JESUS SAVIOR PILOT ME
I committed my life to Jesus
as the Pilot of my ship in life.
Never have I regretted it.
Never will I ever forget
how lost and alone
I felt
before the Savior came in to my life
through the Dear Holy Ghost who
was sent by the Father
when I believed on Jesus.

Jesus, Savior Pilot Me
Over life's tempestuous sea !
Unknown waves before me roll!
Hiding rocks and treach'rous shoal...
Chart and Compass come from thee,
Jesus, Savior ! Pilot me.
As a mother stills her child,
Thou canst hush the ocean wild,
Boist'rous waves obey thy will !
When Thou sayest to them, Be Still!
Wondrous Sovereign of the sea,
Jesus, Savior, Pilot me !
When at last I near the Shore,
and the fearful breakers roar,
Twixt me and the peaceful rest -
Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me,
Fear not ! I will pilot thee!

Why don't you put
your NAME in
John 3.16 ?

I recommend to you
God's own Son
as the very ONE
who, WHEN WE BELIEVE
BECOME CHILDREN
OF THE FATHER.

THE BIRTH DAY OF THE KING - THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

THE BIRTH DAY OF THE KING

FOR UNTO YOU IS BORN THIS DAY IN

THE CITY OF DAVID, A SAVIOR,

WHICH IS CHRIST THE LORD.   Luke 2.11

Luke 2.7  And she brought forth her first-born
son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2.8  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flocks by night.
Luke 2.9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid.
Luke 2.10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for,
behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luke 2.11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2.12  And this shall be a sign unto you, Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Luke 2.13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Luke 2.14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luke 2.15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known.
Luke 2.16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe  lying in a manger.
Luke 2.17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying, which was told them concerning this child.
Luke 2.18  And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
Luke 2.19  But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
Luke 2.20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Luke 2.21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Matthew 1.21
And thou shalt call his name JESUS, for he shall save his people from their sins.

The angel which spoke to Joseph (Matthew 1.19 - 21) gave Joseph to understand that THIS HOLY ONE which would be born was of the HOLY SPIRIT, the HOLY GHOST, and of GOD.
He was instructed not to be afraid to take unto himself his wife, for she was indeed his wife, and she had not betrayed him.  He had been considering putting her away "privately"  for he did not wish to "scandalize" her.   Legally he was MARRIED TO MARY, they were not just engaged as people do today - they were BETROTHED - which meant
they were LEGALLY MAN AND WIFE
As the Son of David, the Angel spoke to him saying
this was to be the Christ, the Savior of the world.  He was to be the One whom the Lord had promised back when Adam and Eve had fallen into sin, and when God spoke to the Serpent, God declared that "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Genesis 3.15
Every woman longed for that Promised Messiah.

And here it was T I M E.

Galatians 4.4 When the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son,  made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law,
Galatians 4.5  to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Galatians 4.6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Galatians 4.7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant but a so: and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

LEGALLY, THE BIRTH OF THE KING
AND THE DEATH OF THE KING
AND THE RESURRECTION OF THE KING
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
SAVIOR OF THE WORLD

MAKE YOU AND I WHO BELIEVE ON JESUS
THE LEGAL INHERITORS OF
THE NEW TESTAMENT OF HIS BLOOD
SHED FOR US.

WE ARE ADOPTED INTO THE FAMILY

JESUS SAID, WHEN HE TOOK THE BREAD,
AND THE CUP AT PASSOVER, BEFORE HE
WENT TO THE CROSS "TAKE, EAT YE ALL OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE NEW TESTAMENT
SHED FOR MANY FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS.
Matthew 26. 28

FORGIVEN.
REMISSION MEANS BEING FORGIVEN

Matthew 28.18 -20
Jesus came and spake unto them saying,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the NAME of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost,
Teaching them to observe whatsoever I have
commanded you, and lo, I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world.

THERE IS ONLY ONE NAME.
NOT THREE
ONLY ONE.
"THE NAME OF THE FATHER, AND OF THE SON,
AND OF THE HOLY GHOST."

Jesus claimed to have LIFE
John 14.6
I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh
unto the Father, but by me.

Again, Jesus said
John 6.47 -48
Verily, Verily, I say unto you,
He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
I am that bread of life.

John 6.51
I am the living bread which came down from heaven:
If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and
the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give
for the life of the world.

Jesus was saying that His death would be
the payment for our sin.   And believing on Him
is a simple CHOOSING TO BELIEVE
THAT HE HAS COME FROM THE FATHER
THAT TO BELIEVE ON HIM IS TO BELIEVE
THE FATHER
TO BELIEVE THAT HIS BLOOD HAS
COVERED MY SINS
IS TO BECOME
A CHILD OF THE FATHER

In John 14.7,8
Jesus went on to say this:
"If ye had known me, you should have
known my Father also; and from henceforth
ye know him, and have seen him.
Philip saith unto him, "Lord, show us
the Father, and it sufficeth us."
John 14.9
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time
with you, and yet hast thou not known me,
Phillip?   he that hath seen me hath seen the
Father, and how sayest thou,
shew us the Father?
John 14.10
Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me?
the words that I speak unto you I speak not
of myself: but the Father that dwelleth
in me, he doeth the works.

FOR THIS CHRISTMAS
WHY DON'T YOU ACCEPT THE GIFT ?

TO BELIEVE ON JESUS
IS TO BELIEVE ON THE FATHER
THAT SENT HIM

TO BELIEVE THAT JESUS
CAME AS GOD'S VERY WORD DECLARED
VERY EXPRESS IMAGE OF THE FATHER
IS TO KNOW
THAT HE DID NO SIN OF HIS OWN
HE PAID ON THE CROSS
FOR OURS

HIS RESURRECTION
GUARANTEES
OUR LIFE
IN
GOD
BY MAKING
US
SONS
WITH THE RIGHT STANDING
WITH THE POSITION
OF LEGAL RIGHT
TO THE THRONE ROOM

SO NOW YOU AND I
CAN PRAY
CAN
SAY
AND
LAY
OUR HEARTS
OUR SOULS
OUR DESIRES
OUR BURDENS
OUR CARES
OUR SORROWS
INTO HIS CARE
INTO THE HEART OF GOD.

John 14. 12 - 13
Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me, the works that I do shall
he do also, and greater works than these shall
he do; because I go to the Father.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
that will I do, that the Father may be
glorified in the Son.

He repeats,
John 14.14
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 14.19
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no
more, but ye see me: because I live, ye shall
live also.

Acts 4.12
NEITHER IS THERE SALVATION IN ANY OTHER;
FOR THERE IS NO OTHER NAME UNDER HEAVEN
GIVEN AMONG MEN
WHEREBY WE MUST BE SAVED.

CHRISTMAS IS JESUS' BIRTH DAY

       LET US RECEIVE THE GIFT

FROM GOD, BELIEVING HE IS ABLE TO SAVE

BELIEVING IN JESUS IS ALL WE NEED.

ONE DAY WHEN HEAVEN WAS FILLED WITH HIS PRAISES,
ONE DAY WHEN SIN WAS AS BLACK AS COULD BE,
JESUS CAME FORTH TO BE BORN OF A VIRGIN,
DWELT AMONG MEN, MY EXAMPLE IS HE !
LIVING, HE LOVED ME,
DYING, HE SAVED ME !
BURIED, HE CARRIED MY SINS FAR AWAY !
RISING, HE JUSTIFIED !
FREELY  FOREVER !
ONE DAY HE'S COMING - O GLORIOUS DAY !

ONE DAY THE LED HIM UP CALVARY'S MOUNTAIN,
ONE DAY THEY NAILED HIM TO DIE ON THE TREE,
SUFFERING ANGUISH, DESPISED AND REJECTED,
BEARING OUR SINS, MY REDEEMER IS HE !
LIVING, HE LOVED ME !
DYING, HE SAVED ME!
BURIED, HE CARRIED MY SINS FAR AWAY !
RISING, HE JUSTIFIED FREELY FOREVER !
ONE DAY HE'S COMING ! - O GLORIOUS DAY!

ONE DAY THE TRUMPET WILL SOUND FOR HIS COMING,
ONE DAY THE SKIES WITH HIS GLORY WILL SHINE !
WONDERFUL DAY, MY BELOVED ONES BRINGING !
GLORIOUS SAVIOR ! THIS JESUS IS MINE !
LIVING, HE LOVED ME !
DYING, HE SAVED ME!
BURIED, HE CARRIED MY SINS FAR AWAY !
RISING, HE JUSTIFIED FREELY FOREVER !
ONE DAY HE'S COMING ! - O GLORIOUS DAY !

ANY DAY CAN BE CHRISTMAS - WHEN WE RECEIVE GOD'S GIFT

ANY DAY CAN BE CHRISTMAS -

 WHEN WE RECEIVE GOD'S GIFT

 GIFTS FOR CHRISTMAS

Sermon by Wm. H. Cash, Jr. 1927 - 2012

Transcribed by June Estelle Cash  April 19,2018

 TEXT :   ROMANS 5: 1 – 11
1.    Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2.    By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3.    And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience,
4.    And patience, experience, and experience, hope:
5.    And hope maketh not ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost, which is given unto us.
6.    For, when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7.    For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8.    But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9.    Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10.  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11.  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ by whom we have now received the atonement.

IN CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS WE EXCHANGE GIFTS IN GIVING AND RECEIVING.  IN THIS MESSAGE, WE SHALL CONSIDER FIVE CHRISTMAS GIFTS THAT GOD WANTS US TO HAVE:
PROPOSITION:  THAT THE GREATEST GIFT IS JESUS.THESE FIVE WONDERFUL GIFTS ARE FOUND IN ROMANS CHAPTER 5: 1 – 11.

                                          1.    THE GIFT OF PEACE.

ROMANS 5.1  Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our  Lord Jesus Christ.       LUKE 2.13,14  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

2.    THE GIFT OF HOPE.

ROMANS 5.2 – 5.  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience, experience, and experience, hope. And hope maketh not ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
TITUS 2.13 “Looking for the BLESSED HOPE , and the glorious APPEARING  of the great God and our Savior JESUS CHRIST.

3.     THE GIFT OF LOVE.

ROMANS 5.5, 8. And hope maketh not ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us…..But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
John 3.16. For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
4.    THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

ROMANS 5.5b. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
John 14.16 – 18. Jesus, speaking told the disciples : “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knowing him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  I will not leave you comfortless: I will be with you.”
5.    THE GIFT OF JOY
ROMANS 5.11  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ by whom we have now received the atonement.
John 15.11    These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
CONCLUSION:God has given us these five gifts.  As we look at the Birth of Jesus as a babe in the manger, let us remember that God loves us, and loves us unconditionally.
I John 4.19   We love him, because He first loved us.           Thank God for His Gifts to us of Peace, Hope, Love, the Holy Spirit (the Holy Ghost) and Joy.

Christmas begins in the heart.  It is not dependent upon “December 25” but it begins when I believe that God sent his Son for me, and that His Son came in love to show the Father’s love to me.

John 1.12 As many as received him,
to them gave he power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name:
John 1.13. which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh
and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
 full of grace and truth.
             I John 5.11  He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

John 5.24.   Jesus declared “Verily, verily, I say unto you,
he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath
 everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation;
but is passed from death unto life.

             I John 5.11  He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
John 5.24.   Jesus declared “Verily, verily, I say unto you,
he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me,
hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation;
but is passed from death unto life.

BEGINNINGS AGAIN - CHRISTMAS by Bibleladyjunebug99

BEGINNINGS AGAIN

BEGINNINGS AGAIN

CHRISTMAS IS A TIME TO GIVE AND RECEIVE

FELLOWSHIP AND FAMILY

In Christmas, giving of gifts and receiving is a part of the joy in all the giving.
Fellowship with our families is the biggest part of the time at Christmas.
In I John chapter 3. verses 1 and 2 tell us "Behold, what manner of love the
Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:
therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.  Beloved,
now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be;
but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see
him as he is."
Again, in I John 5.1 The Bible tells us "Whosoever believeth
that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat
loveth him also that is begotten of him. "
This is my first blog post since my HIP OPERATION on March 18th, and I am happy
to be back to blogging again with you dear ones who will be reading my posts.
I pray that you have a Christ-filled Christmas and much pleasure in giving
 and receiving of gifts.
In Jesus we have the privilege of receiving His Love and giving of that same love  to others.
As we go through this Christmas, we need to be aware that New Year's Eve is just around the corner
and this is a time of  BEGINNINGS AGAIN.
With the expectation of receiving a gift, we do not set it under the tree for it to
just be looked at, without opening it.     With Jesus' who came as THE ETERNAL KING
to give his life for all who would believe, the Angel told Joseph "Thou shalt call
His name JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins."  Matthew 1.21
The best way to celebrate Christmas is to OPEN the G I F T of  God's love,  Jesus Christ
Him as my Lord and Savior.    The fellowship with the LORD God through the Savior  by
the Very Presence of the Holy Ghost (Spirit) in our lives is a precious treasure to
cherish and hold close.
As  I look toward a New Year, I will look to BEGINNING AGAIN
with refreshed hope and renewed
trust in the Living God,
our One God who is manifested to us In Three Persons,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
May God give you His Presence in the days ahead.

Luke 1. 37  WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
