                               DEALING WITH OUR DOUBTS,
                            JESUS IS THE ANSWER

JESUS HAS AN ANSWER FOR ALL YOUR "IFS"

How did Jesus deal with those
                          who expressed
uncertainty with the word  "if"

IF  is in the middle of the of word  L I F E

"to many folk,  LIFE IS ONE BIG IF."

Today I would like you to consider THAT
JESUS HAS THE ANSWERS TO ALL OUR DOUBTS.

A Seed in a pot will
grow to be a plant.
Above I have a picture of
some beautiful Daisies.
Each one, planted, grows according
to the kind it is in the seed.

In our lives, there is a plan
and a purpose that God gave to each of us.
A seed of faith that is planted in
our heart, will grow to
mighty proportions,
if it is given the care
needed.

In our lives, things come up
that make us question
and doubt.
I. A FATHER CALLS FOR HELP
MARK 9. 14 - 29

14. "And when he came to his disciples,
he saw a great multitude about them,
and the scribes questioning with them.
15. And straitway all the people,
when they beheld him, were greatly
amazed, and running to him saluted him.
16. and he asked the scribes,
What question ye with them?
17.And one of the multitude answered and
said, "Master, I bought unto thee my son
which hath a dumb spirit;  18. and
wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him;
and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away:
and I spake to thy disciples that they should
cast him out, and they could not.
v.19.He answered him, and saith, O faithless
generation, how long shall I be with you?
bring him unto me.
20.And they brought him unto him
and when he saw him, straitway the spirit
tare him; and he fell on the ground,
and wallowed foaming,
21.  And he asked his father, how long is it
ago since this came with him?   And he said,
Of a child.
22. And ofttimes it hath cast him into the
fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but
if thou canst do any thing, have compassion
on us, and help us.
23. Jesus said unto him,  if thou canst
believe, all things are possible to him that
believeth.
24.And straightway the father of the
child cried out, and said with tears,
"I BELIEVE, HELP THOU MY UNBELIEF."
25. When Jesus saw that the people
came running together, he rebuked the foul
spirit, saying unto him,  Thou dumb and deaf spirit,
I charge thee, come out of him, and
come no more into him.
v26. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore,
and cme out of him: and he was as one dead;
insomuch that many said, He is dead.
v.27 But Jesus took him by the hand,
and lifted him up, and he arose before him.
v.28 And when he was come into the
house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not
we cast him out?
v.29  And he said unto them, This kind can come
forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Here let us take note that the Disciples were helpless
in the situation.    They found themselves unable
to cast out the demon.     The Scribes were
taking "advantage" of the difficulty, and trying
to see if they could find a way to defeat
Jesus' continued popularity.

So the problem was in the Disciples.
The man had faith, small faith,
but asks
"I believe, help thou my unbelief"

Jesus points out that
FAITH is the way to clear the DOUBTS.

II. A LEPER QUESTIONS IF HE WILL
MARK 1.40 - 45

Mark 1.40"And there came a leper to him,
beseeching him, and kneeling down to him,
and saying unto him,
"If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean."
1.41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put
forth his hand, and touched him, and saith
unto him, 'I will,  be thou clean."
42.And as soon as he had spoke
immediately the
leprosy departed from him
 and he was cleansed.
43.  And he straitly charged him and
forthwith sent him away,
44. And saith unto him, See thou say
nothing to any man: but go thy way,
show thyself to the priest, and offer
for thy cleansing, those things
which Moses commanded, for
a testimony unto them.
45. But he went out, and began to
publish it much, and to blaze abroad
the matter, insomuch that Jesus
could no more openly enter into
the city, but was without in desert places;
and they came to him from every quarter.

The leper was sure Jesus could heal him.
But he was not sure Jesus would do it.
He doubted Jesus would want to touch his leprosy.

In our lives, sin is a reality and
we need cleansing and forgiveness.
Jesus simply wants us to
first
BELIEVE HE CAN

second
THAT HE WILL

I must first recognize my "sin" as
awful as the leprosy -   it separated
people and painfully kept them
from others.   To touch a leper was
to become unclean yourself.
So asking Jesus to touch me
in my leprosy
is to admit I am in need of cleansing.
To touch a sinner unclean
Jesus is willing to touch
us as well,
He wants to touch us
and make us clean
but
first
we need to S E E     O U R     N E E D
THAT  I AM  A SINNER  UNCLEAN

MY SIN NATURE
NEEDS
TO
 BE
CLEANSED

And the man who was cleansed failed
to do what Jesus said AFTER he was
cleansed...Jesus told him to go to
the Temple and show the priests
and pay the offering, so that they
would have a TESTIMONY
of the healing.

III.    MARY AND MARTHA - and

                                             their brother  Lazarus.....

JOHN 11. 1 - 27
QUESTIONING THE LORD'S PRESENCE.....

Lazarus was sick.  Mary and Martha sent
word to Jesus "Behold, he whom thou lovest
is sick."    Jesus heard, and yet, does not go.
 He waits two days.
v. 7  Then after that saith he to his disciples,
Let us go forth to Judea.
v. 8  His disciples say unto him, Master,
the Jews of late sought to stone thee;
 and goest thou  thither again?
v.9  ARE THERE TWELEVE HOURS
IN THE DAY?   IF ANY MAN WALK
IN THE DAY, HE STUMBLETH NOT;
BECAUSE HE SEETH THE
LIGHT OF
THIS
WORLD.
V. 10  BUT IF A MAN WALK
IN THE NIGHT - HE STUMBLETH - BECAUSE
THERE IS NO LIGHT IN HIM.

v. 11  These things said he: and after that he
saith unto them,  Our friend Lazarus sleepeth:
but I go, that I may awake him.
12. Then said his disciples,   Lord if he sleep,
he do well.
13.  Howbeit Jesus spoke of his death; but
they thought that he had spoken of taking
of rest in sleep.
14.-15  Then said Jesus unto them plainly,
Lazarus is dead.
v.15. And I am glad for your sakes that I
was not there, to the intent that
ye may believe; nevertheless, let us go unto him.

16. Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto
fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die
with him.

Well, think of it.    Here is a journey of some
time walking - From the Jordan River where
John was previously baptizing - to Bethany.

The disciples are not liking going
to Judea because they see the conflict
coming.

v.17 - 26
Martha comes out to meet Jesus
when he arrives.  v. 21.If you had been here,
my brother had not died.
22. but I know that, even now,
whatsoever thou wilt ask of God,
God will give it thee.

23 Jesus said unto her,
Thy brother shall rise again.
24. Martha saith unto him,   I know
that he shall rise again in the
resurrection at the last day.
25. Jesus said unto her, I AM THE
RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE:
HE THAT BELIEVETH IN ME,
THOUGH HE WERE DEAD,
YET SHALL HE LIVE.
26. AND WHOSOEVER LIVETH AND
BELIEVETH IN ME SHALL
NEVER DIE.
BELIEVEST THOU THIS?
27. She saith unto him,
Yea, Lord, I believe that thou art
the Christ, the Son of God, who
should come into the world.
28. And when she had so said, she went
her way, and called Mary her sister
secretly, saying, The Master is
come and calleth for thee.

Think of it.   Lazarus has died.
Jesus now has just told   'EGW    EIMI"
I AM     (The great I AM of the Bible which
Jesus uses frequently)
I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE.

When we have doubts
to whom ? do we go?
When sorrow comes,
to whom ? do I turn?

John 11.29 - 33
Mary comes to Jesus.
v.29 As soon as she heard that, she arose
quickly, and came unto him.   v.30   Now Jesus
was not yet come into town, but was in that
place where Martha met him.
v.31  The Jews then which were with her in
the house, and comforted her, when they
saw Mary, that she rose up hastily
and went out, followed her, saying,
She goeth unto the grave to weep there.

v.32    THEN, WHEN MARY WAS COME
WHERE JESUS WAS, AND SAW HIM,
SHE FELL DOWN AT HIS FEET,
SAYING,  LORD, IF THOU HADST BEEN
HERE, MY BROTHER HAD
NOT DIED.

V.33When Jesus therefore saw her weeping,
and the Jews which came with her,
he groaned in the sprit, and was troubled.

WHY ?
OUR QUESTIONS
GOD'S GREAT COMPASSION

                          V. 34.   HE ASKS
WHERE HAVE YOU
LAID HIM?  They said unto him, Lord,
Come and See.
v. 35   JESUS WEPT.

……

Seeing him cry - they think
it is for Lazarus he weeps

He is facing the Cross
He knows the sin of the world
will be laid upon Himself...
He weeps for us

v.37    And some of them said, Could
not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind,
have caused that even this man should not die?
v.38.  Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh
to the grave.  It was a cave and a stone lay upon it.
v. 39.  Jesus said  TAKE YE AWAY THE STONE.
Martha, the sister of him that were dead saith unto him,
Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead
four days.
v.40  JESUS SAITH UNTO HER, SAID I NOT UNTO
THEE, THAT, IF THOU WOULDST BELIEVE,
THOU SHOULDST SEE THE GLORY OF GOD?

v. 41  Then they took away the stone from the
place where the dead was laid.   And Jesus
lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee
that thou hast heard me.
v.42  And I knew that thou hearest me always;
but because of the people which stand by I said it,
that they may believest that thou hast
sent me.
v.43  And when he thus had spoken,
he cried with a loud voice,
LAZARUS, COME FORTH.

44. And he that was dead came forth, bound
hand and foot with grave clothes
and his face was bound about
with a napkin.
Jesus said unto them,
Loose him, and let him go.

v.45   Then many of the Jews
which came to Mary, and had seen
the things which Jesus did believed on him.
